Festivals and Tournaments

Gateshead School Sport Partnership provide us every term with a jam packed program of festivals and events to take part in.  We will try and enter at least one team to as many of these events as possible and try to include as many children as possible.

Through our premium service level agreement we are also entitled to attend cluster events every term held at Thorp Academy.

Check back to this section of the website to be kept up to date with the festivals and tournaments that are coming up and also photographs and feedback from the ones we have been to.

Summer term event dates

Year 5/6 Gateshead Rugby Finals - eventually the weather allowed us to play in the rugby final that had originally been scheduled for the end of the Autumn term. This gave us the chance to get in a few extra sneaky training sessions and they certainly paid off! We were unbeaten on the night and came away as champions! The children played together incredibly well as a team. We are all extremely proud of them all. Well done!

Year 4 Rugby League Tournament

On The Front Foot Rugby Tournament - we triumphed at this tournament with two teams in the semi-final and one team ending up as winners!!

Year 5/6 took part in the Gateshead TAG rugby festival at Ryton Rugby Club on Wednesday 23.10.2015. 7 children were in the squad, this meant they had to play every game. We had fantastic support from Ebony who was feeling a bit under the weather but still came along to cheer us on!!

The children were phenomenal!! The work that they have done with Tom Capper, NERLMS has certainly paid off. The children played 7 games and won all 7!! The results are below show how well they played, scoring 49 tries and conceding only 2!!!

Year 3/4 Girls Football Event

On Wednesday I took 10 very enthusiastic and lively year 3/4 girls to East Durham College in Peterlee to attend a girls football event ran by Durham FA.

In the first half of the morning the girls had the opportunity to play 4 matches against other schools. It was a 5 aside tournament, so I rotated all of the girls so they all had playing time.

The second half of the morning the girls had the chance to try different activities, including a skills and freestyle workshop, a speed cage, target shoot, quick feet, batek boards, hair braiding, face painting, a goalkeeper workshop, a referee workshop and a football mash up.

The event was fantastically organised and its fair to say the girls had an absolutely brilliant time, as did I taking them. They were fantastically behaved and had a smile on their faces through the whole morning!

The singing on the bus on the way home was hard to listen to for the whole hour for myself and the bus driver but I'll let them off for how great they were! Well done to Lucy, Ava (the pitbull in a tackle), Lacey, Emily, Jessica S, Grace, Georgia, Maisie, Sophie and Evie. ⚽️

Gateshead Yr 6 Rugby League Tournament

Following on from last term's Rugby Tournament where we became Gateshead's Yr 5 Rugby champions, we again headed to Gateshead College to take part in the Yr 6 tournament. The 14 teams were split into 2 groups of 7 with only the winners of each group progressing to the final. The children were exceptional and won all 6 of their games, scoring 18 tries and conceding only 2! In the final we played against Ryton Juniors who had also won all of their games. The final was very exciting and finished 2 tries each so we went to extra time. At the end of extra time the 2 teams couldn't be separated so the organisers decided that we should be joint winners!!

Congratulations to the team listed below:

Lewis, Roan, Libby, Charlie, Lillie, Liam and Olivia.
