On Friday 3rd May I took 7 children to Charles Thorp for an indoor 5 a-side tournament. Eleven teams entered the tournament where one girl had to be on the pitch at all times. Over the last couple of years Chloe Wigham in PE lessons and at my football club has really impressed me with her skills and bullish attitude to not worrying about the boys in her class. Chloe got stuck right in on Friday and did fantastically well in each game and did not look out of place at all. In total we played 8 games, managing to win all 8, which is a fantastic achievement from our team! On the day it was our quick pass and move play and pressing of the ball to win the ball back quickly what won us the tournament. Other schools could not live with our power and pace. We defended really well all day and I can only think of Jake having to make 3 saves in 8 games, and only having to pick the ball out of the net once in 8 games and picking up 7 clean sheets is some going. It was a massive team effort, but Khy and Jack were again superb at the back, the real rocks you need in a team like ours. Then with Ryan, Joe and Cameron our team will always score goals with their fantastic one two play and movement. I knew this win had been coming after the two tournaments we missed out on in the final. I said to the team before hand this could be the last tournament you play at our school, so go and win it for yourselves, this was all they needed, they won it at a canter and in style! Again making myself and the school very proud of their fantastic sporting achievement!
