Forest School

At Highfield Community Primary School we are excited and proud to integrate Forest School learning strategies into the curriculum.
Forest School Education currently complements and enhances our curriculum in Foundation Stage and Key Stage One and it offers all our children opportunities to go outdoors into the fresh air of our lovely 'green' environment, using both the developing school grounds site and woodlands near where we are situated.
The main ethos and purpose of the Forest School Movement is to develop social skills, confidence and self-esteem by encouraging children as young as three to participate in thoughtfully planned and managed outdoor activities in the natural environment. Research has consistently shown that being out in the natural environment not only introduces children to new skills, but also affects their self-motivation and self-esteem which in turn has a positive affect to their general approach to learning.
