What a fantastic day we have had at Highfield Community Primary School. Author David Almond 'opened' our amazing new library bus. We all got the chance to look around it - for the first time!
Thank you so much to parents for coming in to see the bus with your children. It has been a really special day. We look forward to opening the books and spending time in this inspiring new space.
Our school cycling club is in training for the Coast to Coast cycle route next June. This week we went on a longer bike ride. The ride was 22 miles in total. We set off from school and cycled along the Derwent walk and on to the Quayside in Newcastle. We visited the Cycle Hub cafe for lunch and then set off back to school. The children really enjoyed testing the new school bikes. On the way back we stopped at the Pedalling Squares cycle cafe at Swalwell for chocolate cake! The kids were fab and are looking forward to the next long ride in November.

Strange bus appears in school yard!!
This week a double decker bus appeared in the school yard. The children are desperate to know why we have bought a double decker bus! Work has already started on it's transformation. Hopefully work should be completed before the end of September. We are very excited about what the bus will turn out to be. All will be revealed after the holidays!!
